This Privacy Policy explains how CarVerified collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. It applies to all CarVerified services, including our website, mobile applications, and vehicle history report services.

CarVerified is a car history check service, and our reports are designed and intended for cars. Searching, checking or purchasing a report for any other vehicle type (for example motorcycles, vans, HGVs or trailers), whether deliberately, purposely or unintentionally, is done at your own risk — see our Terms and Conditions for full details.

We collect personal data that you provide directly to us, as well as information obtained from trusted third-party data providers, where necessary to deliver our services. This may include:

We use personal data to generate vehicle history reports, manage user accounts, process payments, maintain security, improve our services, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal data to third parties.

Payments are processed securely through third-party payment providers. CarVerified does not store full card details on its own servers.

Reviews on CarVerified. If you bought a report, you can rate it and leave an optional comment. We store your rating, comment, the report type, the platform you used, and your first name and last initial. A review is only shown publicly after we approve it, and we approve genuine reviews whatever the rating, removing only spam, abuse, unlawful content or personal information. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in collecting and showing genuine customer feedback. You can ask us to remove your review at any time by contacting support@carverified.co.uk.

Trustpilot. After you buy a report, we copy Trustpilot on the report confirmation email we send you. This gives Trustpilot your email address and a copy of that email (which includes the vehicle registration, the report type and the amount paid) so that it can send you an invitation to review CarVerified. Trustpilot uses this information to send the invitation on our behalf. If you choose to publish a review on Trustpilot, Trustpilot is a separate controller of that review and handles it under its own privacy policy. You can opt out using the link in any Trustpilot invitation, or by contacting us. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in obtaining independent customer feedback.

If you use our referral and points programme, we record your referral code, the points you earn (from purchases, referrals, daily check-ins and rewarded ads), and the points you redeem. When someone signs up using your code and buys a report, we record that a referral took place so we can award points and apply their discount. We do not share your name or email address with the person who referred you or with the people you refer. We also use this information to prevent abuse such as duplicate accounts or self-referral. Our lawful bases are contract (providing the programme you have joined) and legitimate interests (preventing fraud).

Ads in our apps. Our mobile apps show advertising provided by Google AdMob. Google and its partners may use device identifiers to show and measure ads, and rewarded ads let you earn points for watching. Where the law requires it we ask for your consent, and you can manage ad personalisation through your device settings or your Google ad settings.

Measuring our own advertising. We use Google Ads, Meta and Apple advertising measurement tools to understand which of our own adverts lead to sign-ups and purchases. Where the law requires it we ask for your consent, and you can opt out using the banner on our website or your device's privacy settings.

We may use cookies and analytics technologies to understand how our services are used, improve performance, and enhance user experience. These technologies do not directly identify individuals.

We will only send marketing communications where you have provided consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time via your account settings or by contacting support@carverified.co.uk.

Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary to provide services, comply with legal obligations, or support legitimate business purposes. Data is securely deleted or anonymised when no longer required.

Under UK GDPR, you have rights including the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data. You may also request data portability where applicable.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption, access controls, and secure infrastructure.

Where personal data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with UK GDPR.

CarVerified services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available within the app or on our website.
